Scotty Takes A Ride

July 11, 2013  Day 76

Several things have happened with Scotty since my last post and hopefully he is back on the mend. Last weekend he was holding his own after getting home on Friday. By Sunday night he was in pain in his legs and was uncomfortable. Monday the pain never subsided and Deborah had to call the doctors. On Tuesday morning they had him come in and he was seen by his pain management team and the medical oncologist. They immediately increased his dosage of one of his pain meds and started him on steroids.  Deborah received photos of the liver which shows the tumors that are present. All the doctors have met and they all agree Scotty cannot take any chemo until his lungs are totally clear and they make sure he does not have a reoccurring infection. So for now he is at home on oxygen and working on getting stronger. Home health care nurse will continue seeing him as well as PT.  His PT person has been on vacation so hopefully that will begin on Monday. The steroids seem to be doing the trick as far as the pain but the side effects are occurring. He is very jittery and he thinks he can do anything ! He is having a hard time resting.

Kristin took Scotty for a ride today. He wanted to go to the Post Office and to his office in York. So off they went. She drove his car and Scotty said she was a good driver. Deborah had to take Noah to Charlotte for his therapy so Kristin stayed with Scotty. Tomorrow Deborah will be traveling to Spindale, NC to take Noah to his doctor and hopefully he will have some answers where Noah is concerned. He is still struggling with all the changes taking place.

Bobby and I brought mom to the beach for a few days to give her a brief vacation.  Some good wave therapy and good seafood !  We will all return Sunday.

Please continue to pray for Scotty, Deborah and Noah. We know that as we go through an illness of this nature it is one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. As I close tonight my thoughts I have are to never take anything or anyone for granted in life. Things can change in a flash.

Psalms 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
